Iowalive, a grassroots activism group, contends that male principals are more efficient than female ones. See http://iowalive.net for more. The group defines "operating efficiency" as outputs -- chiefly student test scores -- divided by inputs -- chiefly funding. They found that the top four middle schools in Des Moines in terms of that measurement had male principals, while the bottom seven had female leaders. Similarly, in Cedar Rapids, the group reports that the top four middle schools in terms of operating efficiency were run by males, while the bottom two had female principals. The group also contends there is a strong link between female principals and increased teacher demands for more money. Hey! I'm only reporting the news! Don't shoot the messenger. And hey, you Iowalive folks: expect to be called "Male Chauvinist Pigs" over this one . . . and better wear a helmet!
