IN UNFAIR SMEAR OF CHARTER SCHOOLS Don't get me wrong -- I'm for private schools, not charter schools, because they're still government schools subject to "stuff" that I think kids need out from under. But I hate it when government statistics, which we all pay for, are twisted by improper research methods and made to say what they really don't say. In this case, stats published by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics imply that charter schools are NOT doing a good job for disadvantaged kids compared to the regular public schools that they fled. Say it ain't so! Well, it AIN'T so: http://www.edreform.com/index.cfm?fuseAction=document&documentID=2459§ionID=5&NEWSYEAR=2006
